According to the vice president for science and technology affairs, Hormozgan has several intrinsic capacities such as marine and relevant industries, for which a suitable environment must be provided in order to boom these capacities with the help of knowledge-based companies and startups.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, started his provincial travel to Hormozgan this morning (February 17th, 2019) by visiting the university of this province.
In a meeting with the board of directors and a number of faculty members and researchers of Hormozgan, the vice president for science and technology affairs talked about a fundamental concern, which is the interaction of the university with society and industry.
According to Sattari, the interaction between the university and the community should be bilateral and problem-focused. The society must believe in the efficiency of research, and the university must make this interaction effective by innovating and organizing research together with the needs of the community.
Sattari affirmed: research defined purely by government money is like an industry that does not create employment and value added and cannot solve the society problems. Therefore, the province should decide and seek to pave the way for the presence of the private investor in the field of research.
Sattari regarded to solution to this problem to be involving the private sector in this field, continuing: the durability of those industries is consistent with the province”s canvas and the research should be defined on the basis of indigenous needs. In general, research should have a customer. Startups, especially those in the service sector, have creates values with the same customer-oriented and demand-focused approach.
The vice president for science and technology affairs criticized the financial issues and physical assets, which are the next components for research situation. Sattari considered the most important component of research to be educated and creative youth, who follow up their creative ideas with determination.
Sattari reminded some of the service startups, which are currently among businesses generating billions of tomans, expressing the importance of presence of a suitable business environment. In this regard, he added: in order to provide a service to the citizens, startups require a proper environment for expanding their activities and implementing their ideas. Technology parks, growth centers, and accelerators are important since they provide the appropriate environment and business needs of these enterprises.
The president of the national elites foundation affirmed their preparedness to create this suitable environment through infrastructural support, claiming: the Iranian national technology foundation is a mechanism that manages allocation of credits and support of innovations and creative ideas.
Sattari explained about the endogenous nature and compliance of knowledge-based economy with local features, claiming: the knowledge-based economy booms the domestic capacities of the province. In addition, businesses formed based on this economy will establish domestic development.
The president of the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter considered the unique benefits of the sea an opportunity for flourishing startups and knowledge-based businesses, especially in the marine and handicrafts fields, expressing: Hormozgan has unique land advantages, which can create added values and employment 100 times more than the current level. However, the society’s need and province’s condition are significant issues to be considered in industrial development of the region.

Visit of Knowledge-based and Technological Units of Hormozgan

The vice president for science and technology affairs also visited the knowledge-based and technological companies of the province and talked with the technology activists of these businesses.
Sattari attended Gameron Petro Industry Complex, which is active in the low-level petrochemical field, to learn about the achievements of this complex.
In addition, he went to Kimiaye Bagh Tabiat in Abshurak village in Iran, which produces cosmetics, in order to learn about their achievements and technological abilities grown in this region.
